Mah –What?

Mahjong is a popular four-player Asian game similar to the equally popular North American game of rummy. Nearly all persons of Asian origin are conversant with the game, and a huge number of Europeans and North Americans have been getting in on the Mahjong fun since the early 1900’s.

Mahjong is the most widely played “local” game in the Asian markets, specifically China, Taiwan, Korea and Japan. It has taken hold in many other countries where large Chinese populations reside, such as Malaysia and Indonesia. It is also widely enjoyed in the western world. Statistics show that 85% of North Americans of Chinese background who are 18 and over know how to play Mahjong at some level.
